The Caterpillar and Alice looked at each other for some time in silence: at last the Caterpillar took the hookah out of its mouth, and addressed her in a languid, sleepy voice.
'Who are you?' said the Caterpillar.
This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation. Alice replied, rather shyly, 'I — I hardly know, sir, just at present — at least I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.'
'What do you mean by that?' said the Caterpillar sternly. 'Explain yourself!'
'I can't explain myself, I'm afraid, sir' said Alice, 'because I'm not myself, you see.'

The Perry Creek Origin Story
It seems that introductions are always an excellent place to start. So...who are we? Perry Creek strives to be a consumer focused business providing skincare solutions created in small batches using natural ingredients. After many months of recipe development, we presented our first products in November of 2018. Our skin nourishing lip balms were followed by hand crafted soaps, and we are currently developing skin balms to soothe your dry skin (and your pup's feet), and aromatherapy solutions to ignite your senses!
So How Did This Get Started?
Well, I had a job (working for the man every night and day). For 16 years I worked for a multi-national food company in food safety and quality with a splash of regulatory as well. What does this mean? As a microbiologist I made sure new product developments were safe, met the quality standards of the company, and also were compliant to many different local government regulations. It was a good job, but 16 years is a long time to do the same thing in different ways.
For 14 of those years, I also owned a dog training business. Any of you who are working a full-time job and trying to grow a small business know how hard it can be! Your personal life IS your small business with not much time to play. For me, the growth of the small business was limited by the time I was committed to the Corporate World. Dogs are close to my heart always, and I will continue to offer dog training services, dog walking, pet sitting, etc. You can find this piece of my business at A Dog Trainer's Life - currently under re-construction as we switch over our website platform.
As if full-time job and small business weren't enough, I added an education program to become a certified aromatherapist. It's hard to go back to school as an adult - kids...stay in school! You'll read more in other posts about the program I'm in, as well as what it means to be a "certified" or "registered" aromatherapist.
Fast forward a tiny bit and Corporate America reshuffles the deck. Here is a unique opportunity as part of a "corporate restructuring" to focus on small business. So, I chose to say, "Yes, please" (or was it more like, "Me! Me! Pick Me! "?) to a severance and said good-bye to the corporate job in mid-October of 2018.
And most recently I've moved back home...Maine - to be with family that I've been away from far too long.
So, here I am - balanced between panic and excitement, a bit like Alice down the rabbit hole - trying to grow the small business that is Perry Creek!
We are just getting moved in to the new website - we've recently changed over to a new service. So you'll see more from us here soon. You can also follow us on Instagram and Facebook. We can't wait to share our new products with you!
There are a lot of "natural products" out there, and I hope to leverage my corporate experience in product development to not only create products that you love, but to also help you make an educated choice about the products you purchase - even if you don't purchase from Perry Creek. There are no dumb questions, and we would love to talk to you! Please shoot us an email or give us a call!
There will be images. There will be great products for sale. There will be blog posts. Oh My!
